About This Plan

Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) contribute 45% of India’s Total Industrial Employment, 50% of India’s Total Exports, and 95% of all industrial units of the country that cumulatively produce more than 6000 types of products (As declared by msme.gov.in) 

For promoting entrepreneurship and industrial activities in India, The Indian Government has set up The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises which provides special benefits to registered MSMEs' in the form of subsidies, incentives, tax benefits, preference during the Government tender process, and access to various other schemes and incentives of declared by the government from time to time.

If a business is registered under the MSMEs act, it can also avail several other benefits like:

  • Credit linked capital subsidies
  • Protection against delayed payments
  • Industrial promotion subsidy schemes
  • Market Development assistance scheme
  • Incubation Scheme for innovative MSMEs'
  • Reimbursement of ISO certification charges
  • 100% Tax exemption for innovative startups
  • Cheaper/ collateral-free bank loans & priority funding
  • Waiver of foreclosure charges in case of prepayment of bank loans
  • Concession in statutory fees for trademark registrations, patent registration

How It's Done

Steps for the Registration Process as an MSME are as follows:

Step 1: Any person who intends to establish a micro, small or medium enterprise may file Udyam Registration online in the Udyam Registration portal: 

https://udyamregistration.gov.in/UdyamRegistration.aspx based on self-declaration with no requirement to upload documents, papers, certificates, or proof.


Step 2: After submitting an application form, an enterprise (referred to as “Udyam” in the Udyam Registration portal) will be assigned a permanent identification number to be known as “‘Udyam Registration Number”.
 

Step 3: An e-certificate, namely, “Udyam Registration Certificate” shall be issued and delivered to the registered email address of the applicant within 1-2 working days.

Information Guide

Details required for MSME Registration Services in India Online:

  • Aadhar Card of the proprietor, partner, director, as applicable
  • Incorporation certificate of the company, LLP
  • Registered Partnership deed, in case the applicant is a partnership firm
  • PAN of the entity to be registered
  • Investment in Plant & Machinery, if applicable

FAQs

Are MSME & Udyam registration the same?
Yes, MSME registration has been replaced with the Udyam Registration.

If any micro, small and medium industry wants to register their entity as an MSME then the Udyam Registration can be done online at the Udyam portal.
Can trading entities be registered as an MSME too?
No. MSME registration is available for the manufacturing and service industries only. Trading companies are not covered by this scheme.
For how much time is the Udyam Certificate valid?
There is no expiry of the Udyam Registration Certificate.
The certificate so obtained continues to be valid unless it is not revoked by the Authority, pursuing any misconduct or wrong declarations, etc by the entity.
Is Aadhar card compulsory for MSME/Udyam Registration?
Yes.
For Udyam registration, an Aadhaar card is compulsory.
In case an applicant is other than a proprietor, then the Aadhaar card of the partner/ director is submitted for the registration process.
Is MSME registration applicable for entire entity? or do we need to register every unit/ plant?
Yes. The MSME/Udyam Registration Certificate is for a complete entity irrespective of the number of branches or plants. However, self-declaration about multiple branches or plants has to be furnished along with proper details of investment made.
