About This Plan

IEC (Import Export Code) is a mandatory business identification number that is required to be declared by a business entity while importing or exporting any goods/ commodities in and out from India. However, the declaration of IEC is not mandatory for service providers except when they are claiming benefits under the Foreign Trade Policy.

 

IEC, a 10-digit code that has lifetime legitimacy and is given by the DGFT (Director General of Foreign Trade).

 

 

Declaration of IEC is mandatorily required in the following circumstances:

 

1. While getting an import/ export shipment cleared from the Custom Authorities

 

2. While transferring funds for the purpose of import/ export via banks

 

3. When an exporter receives sale proceeds in foreign currency directly into his bank account then it is required by the bank as a matter of compliance.

 

For which category of entities is the Import Export Code (IEC) not required?


As per the circulars issued by the Government authorities, IEC is not mandatory for:

 

  • Traders who are registered under GST: In all such cases, the PAN of the trader shall be construed as a new IEC code for the purpose of import and export.

 

  • The goods exported or imported are for personal use, and such goods are not going to be used for any commercial purpose.

 

  • Import or export of goods has been done by the Government of India, its Departments, and Ministries.

 

  • Notified Charitable institutions also are exempted from the mandatory registration for an Import Export Code.

How It's Done

  • Stage 1: Application Form

 

In the first place, on your behalf, we draft an application in the prescribed format (Aayaat Niryaat Form ANF-2A) and file it with the regional office of DGFT.

 

  • Stage 2: Documents

 

SSI then combines the necessary records, such as your identity proofs, address proofs, bank details, and the certificate regarding ANF2A.

 

  • Stage 3: Filing Application

 

Once your application is ready, we validate the same with your DSC (Digital Signature Certificate), file it at the online portal of DGFT; and pay the prescribed fee for your IEC Registration.

 

  • Stage 4: IEC Code

 

At last, when your application is approved by DGFT, your IEC Code is sent to your registered email address.

Documents needed for IEC (Import Export Code) Registration

 

For IEC Code Registration following reports are required:

 

  • Individual’s/ Firm's/ Company's copy of PAN Card
  • Individual’s elector ID or Aadhar card
  • Individual’s/ Firm's/ Company's canceled cheque to verify the declared Bank details.
  • Copy of Rent Agreement or Electricity bill Copy of the registered premise.
  • A self-addressed envelope for delivery of IEC certificate by registered post

Yes, Sole Proprietorships, Partnership firms, LLPs, Companies, and all Charitable institutions participating in the import or export of products for commercial use can enroll for Import Export Code.
Do we need to renew IEC Code registration?
No, Once registered IEC code is valid for a lifetime, unless otherwise revoked by the relevant authority
